“Before or after…?”

Some people like to have fun before the shower…
Some people have a lot of fun in the shower…
Some people will have fun after the shower…

Exposure: 1/250 at f/9.5, focal length 47mm (1.6 crop factor), iso 200.
2 off camera Speedlites, with diffusers, one pointing from the front (her right) and the other one from the side (her back) through the shower glass.

“Bats Attack!”

Mexican free-tail bats.
Shot at Austin, TX., from under Congress Avenue Bridge, where this bat colony – the largest urban bat colony in North America (estimated at 1.5 million) – shows up every night from mid-March to November.

Of course they are black/brown but when I burned them with the speedlite they get that weird glow.

Exposure: 1/30 sec at f/4.0, iso 400, focal length: 99mm (1.6 crop).
Speedlite diffused pointed straight at the bats.

“A lot in my mind”

This belongs to a series of shots I did with my brother a while ago.
The idea was to capture the different shapes and effects the waves create.
No Photoshop effects.

Exposure: 1/90 at f/5.6, focal length 24mm (1.6 crop factor).
Off camera Speedlite, with diffuser (I don’t remember exact position).

Shot on a tripod with available light.

BBQ at Night (Preparando el Asado)

Shot at night, hand held, manual exposure, 1/30 sec at f/4.0, focal length:35mm (1.6x), Speedlite at top left, with diffuser in a gorillapod.

The idea was to make a night shot with some sort of dramatic light and use the smoke to give some mood.

Comments and suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

I submitted this image to JPG Magazine for their theme titled “Growing up”.
I got more than 80 votes and I truly thought that I was going to get it published but I guess it’ wasn’t good enough.

Anyway, they left me a lot of positive comments and also set it as a favorite 55 times which made me really happy.

This is a candid snapshot. The children didn’t know I was there (except the one covering her eyes).
Taken with a 10mm fisheye lens, 1/125 sec at f/2.8, iso 100, Speedlite bounced to ceiling.
Color-processed to black and white.

If you like it make it a favorite here.

The story under this image:
