The Witch Doctor
“The Witch Doctor”
Mixed Media, 4′ x 4′.
This is the piece I submitted to the “Black & White Show”.
The original title was “The Shaman” since the painting is about a Shaman performing a healing. The feather represent the disease.
When I was in the Art School in Buenos Aires years ago, I was very interested in Precolumbian Art.
We did extensive reaserch on the subject and my group’s thesis was specifically about Precolumbian Cultures of Northwest Argentina.
Sadly I don’t have my notes, so all I know now is what I can remember, but it is a very interesting subject.
Mentor
“Mentor”
Acrylic on canvas.
I started this painting in portrait position and then rotated it to landscape position to finish it.
The Plot
The Plot
Acrylic on wood panel
This was done several years ago.
It represents the conflict between a two lovers and the external forces conspiring against their relationship.
Father to Son
Father to Son
Acrylic on stretched canvas.
I was listening to “Father to son” by Queen, my very first favorite band (I was 11 years old and I was wearing an old Queen shirt) when I started this painting.
So why not include it in the “Inspired by a song” category.
By the way, this one was written by Brian May.

Here’s the lyrics:
a word in your ear, from father to son
hear the words that I say
i fought with you, fought on your side
long before you were born
joyful the sound, the word goes around
from father to son, to son
and the voice is so clear, time after time it leeps
calling you, calling you on
don’t destroy what you see, your country to be
just keep on building on the ground that’s been won
kings will be crowned, the word goes around
from father to son, to son
take this letter that I give you,
take it sonny, hold it high
you won’t understand a word that’s in it
but you’ll write it all again before you die
a word in your ear from father to son
funny you don’t hear a single word I say
but my letter to you, will stay by your side
through the years till the loneliness is gone
sing if you will -
but the air you breathe I live to give you
father to son
father to, father to, father to son
joyful the sound, the word goes around
from father to son, to son…
kings will be crowned, the word goes around
from father to son, to son…
Just Thinking
Just thinking
Acrylic on stretched canvas.
This was a project from the time I was in the art school.
I was trying to create a portrait of a person without the person (without a model).
I think that drawing or painting from a model is good exercise, it lets you understand proportions, light and shade, skin tones, etc.
On the other hand when you create something just using your imagination the result will be unique.
You will ask yourself why this color, why these shapes, why that posture, gesture, position, what’s wrong with me, and there will be no right answer.
