Bats Attack!

“Bats Attack!”
Mexican free-tail bats.
Shot at Austin, TX., from under Congress Avenue Bridge, where this bat colony – the largest urban bat colony in North America (estimated at 1.5 million) – shows up every night from mid-March to November.
Of course they are black/brown but when I burned them with the speedlite they get that weird glow.
Exposure: 1/30 sec at f/4.0, iso 400, focal length: 99mm (1.6 crop).
Speedlite diffused pointed straight at the bats.

Hi Nico,
The photo of the bats is wonderful. I find it interesting how the blurring makes it look like there are shadows. I’m a big fan of bats. Cool blog, too!
